RETROSKETCHES #111

I had pinned several cards on Pinterest with similar phrases using fan{tashe}tic and {spec}tacular, but had never used them.  So I decided to use both of them, making two cards with this week's RetroSketch - and then the people in Stamp Club will have a choice!

The only problem that I had with this card is that the sentiment needs to be printed on the computer, since I don't have a stamp for it.  However, neither of my printers likes cardstock - so guess I will have to head to the local copy shop to print the card fronts.

Here's the list of materials I used:
White Daisy and Black cardstock (CTMH)
Black ink (CTMH)
In the Background stamp set (CTMH D1540) - chevron pattern
Santa at Night paper (American Traditional Designs) - black with white speckles
Black Button Brads (CTMH - retired)
Spectacles die (Taylored Expressions #TE110) - glasses
Artiste Cricut Cartridge (CTMH Z1790) - mustache

Thanks for taking a look!

FAB FRIDAY 39

I bought a package of adhesive cork nearly a year ago, and am finally getting around to using it!  I thought it added a nice bit of dimension and texture to this card.  I altered the placement of the strips from the Fab Friday sketch slightly, but like the clean and simple look.  This will be another card for my "It's A Guy Thing" Stamp Club in May.

Here are the products that I used:
Green ice cardstock - from my stash - who knows how long it's been there!
Outdoor Denim cardstock (CTMH)
Sarita background paper (CTMH)
Adhesive Cork Stack (DCWV)
Outdoor Denim and Champagne inks (CTMH)
Set Sail stamp set (SU retired) - ship image
Schooner stamp set (SU retired) - inside image and sentiment
Holiday Tags stamp set (CTMH - D1560) - front sentiment

MOJO MONDAY 341

It's been quite a while since I've participated in a challenge.  May's Stamp Club is all about guys, so I played around with this Mojo Monday sketch and tried a new technique.  I was able to emboss on tin foil without having the design get smashed as soon as pressure is applied!  I'll be sharing the technique in May's class, then I'll post more information about it.

I love the new embossing folders from CTMH - especially because they are a 5X7 size and give you room to get your image placed just the way you want on a smaller piece of paper.

Here are the products I used on this card (all CTMH):
You're the Best (C1571) stamp set - tools
Holiday Tags (D1560) stamp set - circle frame and greeting
Whisper, Slate, Barn Red and White Daisy cardstock
Dakota background paper (retired)
Black, Whisper, Slate and Barn Red inks
Pewter brads (retired)
Chevron embossing folder (Z1925)

Here's a close-up of the details - and another option on the greeting, since Father's Day is fast approaching!

Hop on over to the Mojo Monday Blog to see other cards made with this sketch.

Thanks for stopping by!  Enjoy your day.

APRIL 2014 STAMP CLUB - Bags, Tags, Boxes, and Bows

I'm a little late posting the information for April's Stamp Club.  All of the groups have met and made these fun projects.  BUT - I wanted to share them here.  We had fun with the round Kraft Canister from CTMH, made a box in a bag for small gifts, and used Julie Nutting's doll stamps to create great tags.  In addition, we learned to make a bow using the envelope punch board available from several companies, and tied tiny bows using a fork!  Hop over to the Stamp Club page to see more detailed photos of these projects.  And I promise - May's projects will be posted BEFORE Stamp Club meets!

SCRAPBOOK WORKSHOP WITH FLIP FLAPS

We will be meeting to create two more scrapbook layouts the end of March.  These layouts will once again use CTMH's Flip Flaps.  The layout above will use two 6X6 flip flaps, and you can see in the photos below how they open to create a mini album right on your scrapbook page.  This gives you the same amount of space as 3 - 12X12 pages!

The second layout uses two 6X12 flip flaps, that open to reveal two more pages of scrapbooking!  The Lollydoodle paper pack is shown below, and the second photo shows the flip flaps on the right page opened.

The paper and color scheme are continued onto this open section of the layout.  You can see the amount of extra space that is available when the flip flaps are opened.  There is LOTS of room for your photos, journaling, and embellishments.   If you find that you still have too many photos, you can add some 4X6 flip flaps on the base page (extra fee for those).
In order to make this layout work for your photos, you will have four different paper pack options.  You've already seen the layout done with Lollydoodle.  Shown below are the other options.  The basic layout is the same in each.  I've shown you a variety of ways that you can arrange your photos without changing the basic layout.  The paper packs shown are Timberline, Balloon Ride and Pro Player.

Cost of the workshop is $25 and includes all of the materials to complete the two layouts.  You will choose the paper pack for the second layout.  Please let me know when register which paper you want to use.

Dates for the workshop are
Thursday, March 27
Saturday, March 29
starting at 9:30

MARCH STAMP CLUB

It's time for Stamp Club again!  And even though we've barely had a winter, we will be focusing on SPRING!!  Not only the spring colors in the projects, but that kite you see in the top card is applied with one of the little springs from CTMH so it's ready to weather any amount of wind!

Stamp Club will meet on these dates, all beginning at 9:30:
Monday, March 3
Tuesday, March 4
Thursday, March 6
Saturday, March 8
Email me at scrappingailaz@gmail.com to register

Cost for Stamp Club is $20 and includes everything to complete all four cards as seen.  There are options on several of the cards, so you can personalize them for whatever occasion you need a card for.

CASE Study #180 and FLOURISHES Timeless Tuesdays #260

I love the doily stamps in the CTMH  Spring/Summer Idea Book.  "Love Doily" was actually released last spring, but it is a perfect match to the pattern in the Jubilee background paper!  I knew I had to combine the two onto one project.

The photo at the Case Study Challenge Blog this week gave me the inspiration.  And over at Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge, they suggested a card with no coloring - just stamping.  So that worked as well.

To fill in the white spaces on the card, I mixed Honey reinker with water, rubbing alcohol and CTMH's Create-A-Shade paint to spritz some of the yellow on the background paper onto the card front.

Products I used (all CTMH):
Papers:
White Daisy cardstock
Jubilee Background paper (X7181B)
Inks:
Honey
Blush
Sweet Leaf
Gypsy
Pacifica
Stamp Sets:
Love Doily (B1418) - background doily
Ivy Lane Cardmaking Workshop (G1079) - square doily image
Dreamer (B1439) - butterfly
You're the Best (C1571) - sentiment
Other:
Sparkles Clear Flourishes - Small (Z1812)
Sparkles - Clear Assortment (Z1752)
Silver Geometric Washi Tape (Z1932)
Scallop Border Punch (Z1851)
Create-a-Shade Pearl Paint (Z1039)
Spray Pen (Z1380)

Here's the inside of the card - you can add whatever greeting you want!

FAB FRIDAY 35 CHALLENGE

I'm finding that doilies are all the rage right now.  You see them on so many projects.  The sketch for Fab Friday this week is no different.  CTMH now has three different doily stamps, and I thought a stamped doily image would be just as pretty on this card as an actually paper doily.

The ruffle on the bottom is actually paper pleated with the back side of the background paper.  I love this technique - it makes it so easy to have a dimensional accent strip that coordinates with your paper.  And you can fold it any way you like - you don't have to worry about being too precise.  It turns out looking great.

Here's what I used to complete this card (all CTMH unless indicated)
Papers:
Ariana background paper (X7179B)
Heavenly Blue cardstock (retired)
Buttercup cardstock
Hollyhock cardstock
Pink Lemonade cardstock (French Paper Company Pop-Tone collection)
Stamps:
Classy Doily (B1424) - doily
Sincere Expressions (A1146) - sentiment
Rosy Regards (retired) - rose
Inks:
Blush
Hollyhock
Sweet Leaf
Garden Green (retired)
Tools:
Scallop Border Punch (Z1851)
