Sweet Birthday Card

February is Birthday Extravaganza in my Stamp Club classes, and what better way to celebrate a birthday than with a yummy cupcake!  I created this card with the sketch from the Stamp Ink Paper challenge blog, but missed the deadline to submit it there.  However, I am entering it in the "Anything Goes" challenge over at Addicted to Stamps and More blog.  Pop over there to check out the other projects.

The stamp set is Sweet Birthday (B1532) with a coordinating Thin Cut Die set (CC1156).  I used the retired Kaleidoscope papers from CTMH for the background and cupcake wrapper.  I embossed the background paper with the Confetti embossing folder (Z3118) and mounted it on Pixie cardstock.  I used Canary cardstock behind the cupcake and Pear cardstock for the sentiment banner.  I used Canary ink and watercolored around the edges of the cupcake frosting, then used the Clear Shimmer Brush (Z3293) to add some sparkle.  The circles on the cupcake wrapper are colored with a variety of colors of the Shin Han Markers.  The candle is stamped in Willow ink and the flame in Canary.  I added sparkle on the flame with the Gold Shimmer Brush (Z3316).  Thin 3-D Mounting Foam (Z2060) was used to pop up the cupcake.

JANUARY 2017 STAMP CLUB

I've enjoyed an extended stay from my sons during their winter breaks from graduate school.  Because of that, I've delayed scheduling the Stamp Club classes.  They will start next week - and here are the projects.  There are individual posts on the blog about each of these cards, so take a look at them if you want more information.

You will create all four cards shown for $20.  If you can't make any of the dates, or you live out of town, you can get a pre-stamped kit with photo instructions for $24.  There will be an additional shipping charge if you need the kit mailed.

All classes take place in my craft studio in Prescott Valley, Arizona.  I will give you address and directions when you register.

Let me know if you are interested by emailing me at scrappingailaz@gmail.com

Dates for Stamp Club this month are:
Thursday, January 12
Saturday, January 14
Monday, January 16
Tuesday, January 17
All classes start at 9:30 and run till about 1:00

FLORAL HEART

The January Stamp of the Month from Close to My Heart showcases a heart with flowers.  I re-created that feel of that image, but used the Thin Cut Heart Die and the large floral array on the stamp set.  This gave a bit more dimension than just the flat stamped image.

The heart die cuts 2 images at once - a thin border and the main body.  I used Sea Foam glitter paper for the border and Sea Foam cardstock for the body.  This has been my favorite paper (both for cardstock and glitter paper) since CTMH introduced it as their color of the year back in August.  I will miss this paper come fall!  Looking forward to see what next year's color will be.

S1701 - Adore You - January's Stamp of the Month
I wanted the floral image to be soft, so I used my stamp pad inks and watercolored with them.  I just applied to color to an empty acrylic block and used a very fine watercolor brush to color in all those small spaces!  This is a good way to make sure your colors will coordinate, and you can control how much color actually gets applied.  It's easy to add another layer of color if you want a deeper shade.

So here's a list of what I used on these cards - all from CTMH
Stamps:
Adore You - S1701 (January's Stamp of the Month) - the flowers
Thoughtful Flowers (retired) - sentiment
Papers:
Colonial White cardstock
Sea Glass cardstock
Sea Glass glitter paper - Z3240

HAPPY HEART WREATH

I am continuing with the Valentine greetings for friends theme with this card.  The design is based on the Tuesday Morning Sketches challenge blog.  The papers are from the new CTMH Seasonal Expressions catalog.  The wreath die was introduced in the fall CTMH catalog, and I loved it - but it took a LOT of fussy cutting to cut this image out.  I was so happy when CTMH brought out a thin cut die to coordinate with this stamp image a few months ago.  I actually used the circle diffuser that is suppose to be used with embossing folders so that I didn't cut out the center of the wreath.  That way, I was able to stamp my sentiment on the wreath image.  Great way to get a little more use out of that fun tool!

I did have to do some fussy cutting on the flowers that adorn the side of the wreath, but it was well worth it to give it that little pop of color.  And to get that color, I actually used my inks and watercolored with them.  I just applied to color to an empty acrylic block and used a very fine watercolor brush to color in all those small spaces!  This is a good way to make sure your colors will coordinate.

So here's a list of what I used on these cards - all from CTMH unless indicated

HEARTFELT HELLO

I have been having fun playing with the NEW products from the CTMH Seasonal Inspiration catalog!  I worked on Christmas projects for so long, it was nice to work with some papers and designs that were spring oriented.  And I decided that with Valentine's Day next month, that would be the focus for our January Stamp Club classes.

Valentine's Day isn't just for your sweetheart - I love to remember my friends and family members on that day as well.  But that means I need a card that isn't all about romantic love.  This cute stamp called "Heartfelt Hello" was perfect for the occasion - and the sketch at Mojo Monday worked perfectly for the design.  I'm also entering this card into these other challenges - Inspired by all the Little Things (the floral pattern is quite prominent in the stamp image and the paper), the word "New" challenge at Just Us Girls and the theme "Something New" challenge at Sweet Stampin'.  It is fun to work with new items in the craft room!

Some people who are coming to the classes asked if this card could have a Valentine's greeting on it - and that was easy.  While the "hello" is a part of the stamp, I just cut a banner with one of the dies from the new Hello Lovely Cardmaking bundle - and added the alternate sentiment to that.  It covers the hello just fine - and gives a new dimension to the card.  Adding the banner makes the heart stamp so versatile!

So here's what I used on this card (everything is from Close to My Heart unless indicated):
Stamps:
Heartfelt Hello - A1202
Beloved Bouquet (retired) - alternate sentiment shown above
Papers:
Hello Lovely Paper Pack - X7216B
White Daisy cardstock
Sorbet cardstock
Metallic sea glass colored cardstock - from my stash from the paper store!
Inks:
Versamark ink
Sorbet
Other:
Blush Shimmer Ribbon - Z3313
Ranger White Super Fine Embossing Powder - Z2068
Thin 3-D Foam Tape - Z2060
Hello Lovely Cardmaking Thin Cuts Bundle - Z3301
