you've already filled albums, you will find that the possibilities are endless!

Scrapbook workshops are held every other month at my home.

I'm also pleased to let you know that I am now a consultant for Close to My Heart.   This does not mean that coming to the scrapbook workshops means you have to purchase items from me.  It just means that if you want to get anything from this company, you can order on the spot!  They focus on scrapbooking, so there are great papers, stickers, embellishments, and stamp sets that will help you on all of your projects.  You can go to my CTMH website and see all of the products and get great ideas.  Just click on the link at the left to see what Close to My Heart has to offer.

NOVEMBER 2015 SCRAPBOOK WORKSHOP
FALL and CHRISTMAS
The last scrapbook workshop for 2015 is just around the corner.
Tuesday, November 17 is the date, and the layouts we are doing are below.

This layout uses the beautiful Sangria papers, and features a vertical photo on the left page.  You can use a 4X6, 5X7 or even an 8X10 for that photo.  The layout of photos on the right is only an example - you are free to place your photos in whatever arrangement works for you.

This Christmas layout uses the White Pines papers and with some Cricut cuts and stamps from the White Pines Workshop on the Go scrapbooking kit.  The layout as shown uses 3 - 4X6 photos and 3 - 3X4 photos.  The journaling block can be replaced with another 3X4 photo if desired.

Both of these layouts are included in the basic workshop, and the cost is $20.

I am also offering an additional layout for those who wish to purchase it.  Also using the White Pines paper, the layout below can be done as a Christmas layout (as shown), or you can use stamped winter scenes, like a snowflake and snowman, in place of the Christmas images.  You can decide.  All materials are included for this layout, including the shimmer trim.  Cost to add this layout to the workshop is $10.

Email me at scrappingailaz@gmail.com if you are interested.
If you can't make it to my house for the workshop, kits are available,
either to pick up locally or they can be mailed.  Email me about that as well.

JULY 2015 SCRAPBOOK WORKSHOP
BLOSSOM and JACKSON

These two paper packs are in the Summer Seasonal Expressions catalog.
They will be available until the end of August, or while supplies last.
So guess we'd better get busy making our layouts with these beautiful papers!

This paper is so fun!  I used the Blossom Complements as well as the Coral Reef Sequins and Bitty Pearls on this layout for embellishing.  While the pearls are retired, the Bitty Sparkles are the same size and would work perfectly.  There is also another set of sequins - Oceanside - that could be used instead.  I've listed that information below.

It was fun to group the smaller stickers on top of some of the label shapes in the set.  Gave it a larger feel.  Then adding the sequins and pearls randomly on the pages helped to fill in the empty spaces.  Don't get me wrong - I like the empty spaces, but it just needed a little something and these little embellishments were perfect!

This is the sketch I used for the layout.  You can see the variety of photo sizes you can use - and I even switched that up and added a 4X4.  You could add more photos in those empty spaces if you have more photos you want to showcase.  It was fun to use the 3X4 size of photos - I cut them all from regular 4X6 pictures, but didn't feel the need to have all of the background.

Jackson is a great outdoor themed paper pack.  But you will notice in the layout sketch below that you can flip each of these pieces over and use the reverse side - and it doesn't have that outdoor feel.  You could use this layout for any theme you want!

This layout has only one more photo on it than the Blossom layout does, but because they are full-size photos, it fills up more of the space.  I wanted to keep the outdoor pictures large in order to see all of the beauty.  I cut the 4X8 from an 8X10 photo, but you could substitute several smaller photos in the same area.

The cost of the workshop is $20 and includes all of the cardstock and patterned paper to complete the layout as shown and a page protector for each layout.  If you wish to add the complements or the sequins and sparkles, you will need to purchase those separately.

 Workshop dates are:
Saturday, July 25
Tuesday, July 28
Both groups will meet at 9:30 in my home craft studio in Prescott Valley, AZ.
If you are interested in this project by cannot attend, I can make a kit available for you.  Contact me if you would like this option.
Please email me at scrappingailaz@gmail.com to register or if you have questions.

MARCH 2015 SCRAPBOOK WORKSHOP
Birthday FUN!!!

March’s scrapbook workshop focuses on two fun paper packs from Close to my Heart.  Each will allow you to use a lot of 4X6 photos as well as a few smaller sized pictures.

I LOVE the colors in the Chalk It Up paper pack.  The sorbet and glacier blue, accented with the black star pattern, work well for any theme, but I thought FUN! was, well, just plain fun.  The sketch for this layout is based on the "Monologue" sketch from CTMH's Imagine scrapbooking book.  The photos in this layout are 4 X 6 and 3 X 3, which means you can use flip flaps over any of the pictures to extend your layout.  Stamped images provide accents as well as journaling.

The Confetti Wishes papers celebrate birthdays, and the coordinating complement stickers are perfect for this layout.  After finishing this two-page layout, there will be enough stickers left to accent another layout, or even to create several great birthday cards!

There was no sketch for this layout.  I was inspired by a layout done by fellow CTMH consultant Kim Ferguson.  The curved line of the checkered paper mimics the curve seen on the candles paper.  This layout uses 4 X 6 and 4 X 4 photos, and these are again sizes that allow you to add flip flaps to include extra photos.

This workshop was held Tuesday March 24 and Saturday March 28.  Cost was $20.

FEBRUARY 2015 SCRAPBOOK WORKSHOP

In February, we will use the two paper packs found in CTMH’s Seasonal Expressions 1 mini catalog.  Heartstrings and Hopscotch paper will be available only until the end of March, so if you are interested, get yours now.    Both layouts are making use of sketches found on SketchSavvy.blogspot.com

All of CTMH’s papers are double sided, giving versatility to the layouts created with one sketch.  You can see the look of the Heartstrings layout above with more of a “Love” theme, but using the other side of the paper below, you can switch the focus and make it more generic.
Picture My Life cards and washi tape are used in addition to cardstock die-cut images to finish the layout.

The second layout we will do uses the Hopscotch papers and the coordinating complement stickers.  The basic sketch allows for six photos approximately 4 X 6.

I rotated the sketches on both pages to accommodate the vertical photos I had for this layout - my son working on his costume for Albuquerque's Comic Con in January.  Sir Wilfred of Ivanhoe had a great time at the convention!
Both layouts will be completed for a workshop fee of $20.
Dates are Saturday February 21 and Tuesday February 24.

FALL SCRAPBOOK WORKSHOP
Saturday, October 25, 2014
Tuesday, October 28, 2014
These two layouts are the same basic design and the same pattern paper.  But since the paper is double-sided, you can choose which side and color combination you want.  The color of your cardstock will be decided on the day of the workshop based on the way you use the patterned papers.

I have used the dimensional elements that coordinate with the Pathfinding papers that are the basis of this layout.  They are chipboard, and a sample of them is shown to the right.
They sell for $4.95 plus shipping and tax and can be ordered and added to your layout later if you wish.

There are stamping options available for this layout if you don't want to purchase these shapes.

The second layout uses the Scaredy Cat papers and Halloween stamps.  The papers and colors will still work very well for a fall themed layout instead of Halloween.  I have lots of leaf and tree stamps and some dies, so there are many possibilities.  I’m actually planning to emphasize the black in this project and turn the layout into one for my son’s piano photos!  We’ll see how that works.

You can add another photo where the big tag is—and use a different journaling option.

If you are doing this as a Halloween layout, you might be interested in adding the assortment that coordinates with this paper.  It sells for $6.95 plus shipping and tax and again, can be ordered and added to your layout later.

When you register, I will give you photo sizes and options for changes for both layouts.

The scrapbook workshop will be held on two dates:
Saturday, October 25 or Tuesday, October 28
Workshops start at 9:30 at my home craft studio in Prescott Valley
Kits will be available if you cannot make either of the dates.
Those purchasing the kit will need to know the color option they want for the fall layout.

Cost is $20 and includes all of the papers needed to complete both layouts,
plus a page protector for each layout.
If you wish to add any of the embellishments that I’ve mentioned or flip flaps,
you will need to purchase those separately.
All can be added after the workshop.

Email me at scrappingailaz@gmail.com to register

Please know that once you confirm your registration for this workshop, you will be committed to attending or getting the kit, as I will be cutting the papers several days prior to the workshop.

 SCRAPBOOK WORKSHOP WITH FLIP FLAPS

We will be meeting to create two more scrapbook layouts the end of March.  These layouts will once again use CTMH's Flip Flaps.  The layout above will use two 6X6 flip flaps, and you can see in the photos below how they open to create a mini album right on your scrapbook page.  This gives you the same amount of space as 3 - 12X12 pages!

The second layout uses two 6X12 flip flaps, that open to reveal two more pages of scrapbooking!  The Lollydoodle paper pack is shown below, and the second photo shows the flip flaps on the right page opened.

The paper and color scheme are continued onto this open section of the layout.  You can see the amount of extra space that is available when the flip flaps are opened.  There is LOTS of room for your photos, journaling, and embellishments.   If you find that you still have too many photos, you can add some 4X6 flip flaps on the base page (extra fee for those).
In order to make this layout work for your photos, you will have four different paper pack options.  You've already seen the layout done with Lollydoodle.  Shown below are the other options.  The basic layout is the same in each.  I've shown you a variety of ways that you can arrange your photos without changing the basic layout.  The paper packs shown are Timberline, Balloon Ride and Pro Player.

Cost of the workshop is $25 and includes all of the materials to complete the two layouts.  You will choose the paper pack for the second layout.  Please let me know when register which paper you want to use.
Dates for the workshop are
Thursday, March 27, 2014
Saturday, March 29, 2014

FLIP FLAP SCRAPBOOK WORKSHOP
Pick one of these dates
Thursday, January 23, 2014
Saturday, January 25, 2014

This workshop is designed to let you work with CTMH's Flip Flaps - a way to add more photos to your layouts without adding extra pages.

The Merry & Bright layout looks nice as a basic layout, but add the 8X12 Flip Flap, and you nearly double the amount of space you have to showcase your photos.

While the front of the layout has a specific sketch for the photos, the two inside sections are open to any way you want to place your photos.

Modifications to this layout:
  • change the size of the large photo (shown as a 5X7)
  • use two horizontal 4X6 photos instead of three 4X4 photos
  • move the border on the right page down and use photos up to 4X6 (just be sure they are all the same size)
I chose a Thanksgiving theme for the second layout, which uses the Huntington paper pack.  You can choose any theme you want - the Cricut will be available to cut the title to your specifications.

There are changes you can make to this layout as well.
  • I didn't have a vertical 5X7 photo, so I cropped two photos to 3.5X5 and stacked them on top of each other in the space (you can see that in the photo on the home page of this blog)
  • If you wanted to use a horizontal 5X7 photo, you could rotate the design so your photo would work.  This would mean rotating the other page as well, so those 4X6 photos would now be vertical instead of horizontal
  • If you have some vertical and some horizontal 4X6 pictures for the right side of the layout, you could put the vertical photos on the top left of that page and the horizontal photos on the  bottom right.  This would eliminate the extra space for continuing your title onto the second page.
  • You will be provided with two 4X6 flip flaps for this layout.  If you have additional photos you want to add, you may purchase extra flip flaps and they can easily be added on top of the others.
It will be fun to work with your photos in class - hope you can make it.

WORKSHOP FEE is $20 and includes all materials needed for the 2 layouts.
Workshop begins at 9:30 a.m. in my home craft studio in Prescott Valley.

STAMPING 101 FOR SCRAPPERS!

Stamping is a GREAT way to highlight your scrapbook page.  Everything you see in these photos was created with stamps and inks.

This workshop will teach you the basics of stamping so you can take advantage of this technique on your scrapbook pages.

We will create tags, borders, journaling blocks, and just some "pretties" to add to your page.

The class will cover all of the essentials of using stamps & inks
  • Types of stamps
  • Care of stamps
  • Types of inks
  • Different ways to ink stamp
  • Different ways to color image
  • Creating your own background paper by stamping image tone-on-tone
  • Sponging edge of paper with ink to create color definition instead of layering
  • Embossing with pigment ink, embossing powders and a heat gun
  • Using embossing folders and die shapes with the Cuttlebug
  • Adding dimension to the stamped image
Embossing "friends" over the colored image makes it stand out!  An embossed resist technique was used to make the butterfly tag.
There are lots of tag options that allow you to add journaling and dates in a FUN way!
There are a variety of ways to add borders with stamps - and you could even put your title over the blue swirls on the left!  You can also see that you can stamp directly on the page!
Same image - different style used - allows you to use the same stamp over and over with different results!

If you plan on coming to the scrapbooking workshops at my home, one of the major benefits is that I have HUNDREDS of stamps that you can use to add to your pages.  I have been collecting them for over 12 years - so there is quite a variety.  This class will teach you how to make use of this resource and you can be free to design on your own when you are here for a workshop!

The cost of the class will be $25, but all materials but adhesive will be included.  In addition, you will receive a $10 credit toward a purchase from Close To My Heart (CTMH).  This company was founded by the woman that wrote the “Reflections” book I showed in the first class – with all the photos of page layouts complete with sketches and cutting diagrams.  CTMH carries not only stamps, but paper packs that include patterned paper and matching cardstock, with coordinating stickers available.  They also sell embellishments, rub-ons, and full-size and mini-albums.  There are many possibilities for the use of your credit.   Click on the "Shop with Me" logo at the top of this page, then click on “products” button on the left side, and you will be able to look through the current catalogs.  These are actually called “Idea Books” because they have so many suggestions of page layouts and card designs.

The class will be held on
Thursday, March 24 from 9:30 - 1:30 at my home.
Contact me to register and I'll send you directions.
