Heart 2 Heart Challenge - Christmas Part 2

I fell in love with this stamp set - To You and Yours (B1403) - when I first saw the new CTMH catalog.  Gals in my group had been asking for a true window card, and I knew this image would be perfect for it.

I used cranberry, sweet leaf and olive alcohol markers to color him in.  The bow and swirls are cut from Artiste (love that cartridge!).

The Grand Madison Window die is from Poppy Stamps.  The opening is cut with one of the Nestabilities rectangles from Spellbinders.  The green paper is from the retired Creative Basics Mistletoe collection.

This card is being done in my November Stamp Clubs, and I've entered it in the Heart 2 Heart Christmas - Part 2 challenge.  Click here to check out Heart 2 Heart and all the other beautiful Christmas projects made with Close to My Heart products!

Christmas Challenge - Black Tie Fridays and Heart 2 Heart

Both Heart 2 Heart and Black Tie Fridays had a Christmas challenge this week.  Black Tie Fridays, a new challenge blog I just found out about, required a pink monochromatic theme with a touch of black.  Heart 2 Heart simply said anything Christmas was accepted for their first Christmas challenge of the year.  So this is what I came up with.

The Pear and Partridge paper pack has this sheet that is primarily pink, so I used smoothie cardstock as the card base.  The ornament image is from the October Stamp of the Month - Very Merry Christmas.  CTMH's new black tulle ribbon was one of the "touches of black" for Black Tie Fridays.  And what ornament would be complete without some bling - so bitty sparkles, bitty pearls and a rhinestone designer brad (all from CTMH) complete the look.

The card itself is a modified Swinging Z-Fold, so the greeting is stamped on the inside that isn't seen when the card is closed.  The greeting is also from Very Merry Christmas, the background stamp is from Merry and Bright (C1510) and I added one of the Pear and Partridge rub-ons.

I just found out that Black Tie Fridays selected my card for the "Casual Friday" award!!!! Thanks.

Enjoy - and try one of these challenges -they are really fun and addictive!

Heart 2 Heart Challenge - BIG card!

Well, it's been a while since I've been able to play with any of the challenges.  Luckily, this one was right up my alley.  This is the card I made for my son's birthday - and it is L - O - N - G!  I used the colonial white die cut card (3.5 X 8) and the Cruisin' (now retired) Workshop on the Go from CTMH.  I love the fact that the card is big enough that the pocket on the inside actually holds the money without having to fold it!
I have to say that this size card was a bit of a challenge to design, especially with the extra flap at the end.  But that flap adds so much to the design, it was worth it in the end!

Click here or on the badge to the right to head over to Heart 2 Heart to see the other wonderful BIG creations this week.
Head on over to "My Challenges" page to find out more details about this card!

Thanks for looking!

OPEN HOUSE!

I am hosting an Open House to give you the opportunity to see some of the new products from CTMH as well as preview projects we will be completing in the upcoming Stamp Clubs and special workshops.

You will be able to make this quick gift bag using the new La Belle Vie paper with the Jardin Flair and Bonjour Occasions stamp sets.  The topper is made with Baroque Borders, the August Stamp of the Month and the new black tulle ribbon.

You can also try out the new alcohol based markers and make this easy napkin ring!

In addition to these make-and-take projects, I will have samples of the September Stamp Club projects - a fall banner, a pumpkin and several cards.  Samples will be available of 3-D Christmas gift toppers and Christmas cards that we will be making in the next few months.

Upcoming special workshops include the Collage Cubes and the Christmas Advent Calendar.  I am also working on a Perpetual Calendar from the new 3" Chipboard Blocks.

I will be sending in a CTMH order after both Open Houses, so if you wish to place an order, I will have forms available.  Seeing the new product in person is one of the advantages of attending - you'll know the size of the items you see in the Idea Book and get a better idea of how to use them.

For those of you with a Cricut, I have been using the new Artiste cartridge and again have nothing but rave reviews for it.  See it in person and find out what specials I have when you order this cartridge.

I almost forgot about the fun part - door prizes!!!!  There will be a drawing every hour (on the hour) for those present, and a drawing at the end of the day for a larger prize available for all those who attended.  Bring a friend who has not been a part of Stamp Club before and be entered in another drawing!

I will have two days for the Open House -
Saturday, August 25 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Tuesday, August 28 from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
There is no charge for attending the Open House - just come and enjoy re-connecting after a busy summer.  If you plan to attend, just drop me an email or give me a call so I am sure to have enough materials for the projects.

Looking forward to seeing you all soon!

PLAY DATE CAFE Color Challenge #135

It is so good to be back home and back in my craft room.  My mother-in-law has been in rehab.  Hopefully she will be home soon.

I had several "Quick Card" stamp sets from CTMH that I wanted to use in the June Stamp Clubs - applying several different color inks to one image before stamping it.  The color challenge at Play Date Cafe this week was perfect for the "Quick Cards - Shell" image.

I used the Pacifica and Lagoon directly on the image, then stamped it again with the Autumn Terracota and cut out the shell to adhere to the center.  You can't see it very well, but I used a Sakura clear stardust gel pen to accent the Lagoon and Terracota sections - adding just a hint of sparkle.

You can see more information about this card on the "My Challenges" page of this blog.  Click here to go on over to Play Date Cafe and see the wonderful creations by others using these same colors.

Play Date Cafe and Freshly Made Sketches

I tried several new challenges this week - the color palette from Play Date Cafe and the sketch from Freshly Made.  I needed a card for someone doing a senior piano recital - and I think it turned out pretty well.  Keeping it simple (the idea of Freshly Made) and the great colors from Play Date helped a lot - I don't think I would have come up with it on my own.  That's what's great about the challenges.

Click here to go over to the Freshly Made blog to see other creations with this sketch.  To see other designs with this color combination, click here and head over to the Play Date Cafe.

Thanks for looking! Enjoy your week.

UPDATE: I received honorable mention on Play Date Cafe for this card - and got to add the "Cream in Our Coffee" badge!

H2H and Mojo Monday 241

The H2H challenge this week is Polka Dots and Stripes (and of course, the Dotty for You paper pack is perfect!).  I used the Mojo Monday 241 sketch for this card for a friend's birthday.   Had to get the photos done quickly as we celebrate today!

H2H and Mojo Monday 240

I wasn't sure I was going to get this done before Mother's Day!!!
I needed a new design for my MIL because she sits in my classes sometimes, and I didn't want to use the Mother's Day card we made in April.  So I combined challenges - I used the Mojo Monday 240 sketch and the H2H Mother's Day theme.  I used two retired paper packs - Bliss and Perfect Day.  It didn't show up very well on the photo, but I ran the juniper paper through an embossing folder, then toned it down by inking it with the White Daisy pigment ink.  The little flower is from the Lucy Bitty Buds assortment, and the ribbon is from the discontinued Wings Creative Basics kit.

You can see other cards created with this sketch by clicking here to go to the Mojo Monday blog, and see the other Mother's Day cards at H2H by clicking here!

You can see more details of this card (sketch and more photos) by clicking here to go to My Challenges page.
Thanks for looking - and Happy Mother's Day to all the moms!

H2H Photo Inspiration Challenge

This week H2H posted a photo for our inspiration.  The shower curtain made me think of water (of course) and what swims in water but this cute little fish from "Under the Sea!"  You can see the challenge photo and the other details of this creation by clicking here to go to "My Challenges" page.   You can also click here to go over to the H2H blog and see all the other wonderful creations inspired by the photo.  This challenge was a great way for me to think in a different way about this set - of course I thought I would use the Footloose CTMH papers for it - but what a great look with this fun color combination.  Thanks, H2H, for the inspiration!

Mojo Monday 237 and H2H Stitching Challenge

Another challenge, and another opportunity to use the May Stamp of the Month from CTMH!  This card was inspired by the Mojo Monday 237 Sketch, but I decided to add the stitching component from the H2H challenge for April.  I used both machine stitching and hand stitching on this one.  Click here to get more details about this card on "MY CHALLENGES" page.  You can also hop over to Mojo Monday by clicking here, and be sure to check out H2H by clicking here!  Lots of great interpretations on both sites.
