Close to My Heart released the Smitten papers (CC12217) and stamp/die set (CC122111) in December, and it's such a fun suite to work with. The papers use bright colors and fun patterns, while the stamp set with coordinating dies is versatile even after Valentine's Day is over!
Here's an up-close look at each of the cards, and the products I used to create them.
This old fan reminds me of the one we used when I was a child. The "punny" sentiments are great, and I can see using this throughout the year. The Hearts Background Thin Cut Die was featured in last year's Core catalog, but is still available online (Z3680). I love how quickly you can create a card when you have a fun background already created for you! I painted some silver Stickles on the blades of the fan to give it some shine, and added a single Wild Berry enamel dot to the center.
Valentine cards don't have to be just red or pink - they can be whatever you want them to bee! So in this case, yellow and black were in order 😊. The honeycomb was cut from the CTMH digital SVG collection (X7276F) that coordinates with the Sweet as Honey paper suite. I cut an extra piece and used it as a stencil for the background (I used Antique Linen Distress Oxide ink). I added the heart die cut from the set, and sponged it with Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide ink to balance out the pink flower on the card. Again, this bee will be flying all year long!
It's always nice to send greetings to your friends on Valentine's Day without them being mushy! So the sewing machine stamp and sentiment were perfect for this. The Hearts Slimline Thin Cut Die (Z3992) is another one of those backgrounds that makes the rest of the card so easy to put together. I also used the Perfectly Imperfect Patterns stamp set (D2051) for the splash of color (capri, to be exact) behind the machine.
And finally, we are at that card for the one you truly love. Can anyone resist a cute koala? The Botanical Embossing Folder (Z4095), while not exactly a eucalyptus plant, worked well as the background for this little fellow. The bright stripes were just enough to finish off this card.
I wanted you to see that this guy can actually be used year-round as well! I used the thin cut die to cut just the balloon part of the image out of some patterned paper, added some black lines and a happy sentiment, and he's set to send any kind of wishes you want anytime you want!
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you've enjoyed walking through each of these cards. The products used have been linked back to my website if you want more information - or you can just pop over to scrappingail.ctmh.com to see all the Close to My Heart has to offer.
