CHEERS for Mojo Monday Sketch

When I first saw the stamp set "Cheers My Dears", I knew that I wanted to use it on memory pages of friends together at convention sharing our margaritas!  Well, so far that hasn't happened, but at least I did get a card done.  Now I just need to make a few more of these and send them off to those friends.  I think the sketch over at Mojo Monday was perfect to bring that smaller image to the forefront of the card, but have lots of details going on behind it.

Speaking of details, I wanted you to see this drink up close.  I did a bit of ink smooshing on the white stitched circle with glacier ink before stamping the glass.  The beverage part was stamped with flamingo ink, and then I applied Pink Taffeta Stickles to the inked area.  Once that dried, I added Liquid Glass to the entire glass area to give a more realistic appearance to the glass.  The little umbrella was stamped on the glass, and then I stamped another on scrap paper.  I colored that one with Spectrum Noir markers, cut it out, and popped it up with a small glue dot for a little dimension.

The papers in the background are from the current CTMH Mix-In papers, and I added glacier and black cardstock.  The diagonal edge was cut using the Fancy Border Thin Cut Dies.

The stamp set "Cheers My Dears" (https://bit.ly/3np541i) can be found on my CTMH website, and is actually on sale until the end of April 2021!

Be sure to check out the other creations made with this sketch over at the Mojo Monday post over at the Poetic Artistry blog.

CHERRY BLOSSOMS - Clean and Simple

Cherry blossoms certainly say spring!  I've never been able to see the cherry blossoms in Washington, DC, but would love to experience that someday.  For now, I just have them on a card to spread joy to someone else!

I kept the design clean and simple, and even chose to use white-on-white for the setniment shape so it didn't intrude into the simplicity of the card.  I'm entering this card into the Addicted to CAS - Flower challenge this week.  You might want to pop over to their blog and check out the other beautiful floral cards!

The blossoms were colored with a Prismacolor pencil (#929, pink) and blended with Gamsol and a blending stump.  I love the way you can get such a change in the intensity of the color by pulling the color out from the center.

Thanks for stopping by to check out the blossoms!  Here's a list of the products I used:

SPRING IS IN THE AIR

Spring is definitely in the air in northern Arizona.  The wind is blowing and all the pollens are floating around.  But on a more positive note, the birds have built their nests and are waiting for their families to grow!  I've been wanting to play with this "Eggs in a Nest" stamp set for a while, so decided this was the time!  I used three brown shades of ink for the layers of the stamped nest, and used a second generation of the glacier blue ink on the eggs themselves - wanted to keep the colors soft.  The background paper is from the CTMH Mix-In papers, and the background overlay was cut using the Diagonal Stripe Slimline Die, also from CTMH.  The sentiment is stamped on glacier cardstock with peacock ink on a piece of glacier cardstock.  The photo at the Inspire.Create.Challenges made me think of this the die, and the kraft color in the Inspired By Challenge photo led me to the background paper.  Check out both of these challenge blogs to see other cards created with these inspirations!

Using a die that covers the entire front of the card makes for a quick project.  Since there was no coloring, the stamped images were ready to go in no time!

This die is sized for slimline cards and measures 3.5 x 8.5.  The stitched lines around the border add a nice touch.

You can see with the "Eggs in a Nest" stamp set the various layers used to create the nest.  Since the stamps are clear, they line up perfectly without the aid of a stamp platform.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Paper Piecing

I love having dimension on cards, and this mini-bendi card gives LOTS of dimension!

The main image is a little set called "Besties - Zoey" from CTMH.  I guess the glasses drew me to this set - and I just had to make them red like my own!

I did paper-piecing on Zoey's top and the cat's bow (yes, that little bow was cut by hand!).  I used the Mix-In papers from the current CTMH catalog for those, as well as the hillside grass.  The hill was cut using one of the Fancy Borders dies.  Another of those border dies was used to create the stencil I used to ink the cloud background.  The flowers are from the Daisy Meadows Scrapbooking stamp/die set.

I am entering this card in the CAS Mix Up Card Challenge - where the challenge was to use paper piecing along with one other mixed media element (the stenciled clouds).   Be sure to pop over to their blog and check out the other creations using paper piecing!

By the way, I did another bendi card earlier this week and created a video with all the details for the style of the card, so if you are interested in creating one of these quick dimensional cards, check this out!

Thanks for stopping by my little corner of the blog world!

Mini-Bendi Card with CTMH Kitchen Gnomes

I recently saw a "mini-bendi" card and just had to give it a try.  The CTMH Kitchen Gnomes stamp/die set was perfect for this project, along with the Eat Love Play papers, also from CTMH.

You can see in this "bird's eye view" that the band of the card bends and allows it to stand upright for display.  That added dimension is so fun to create with, because you can make little scenes on your card that you might not be able to do if the card was flat!

The Kitchen Gnomes stamp set (shown below) has coordinating dies.  The set is a part of the CMTH Stamptacular Sale during April 2021, so until the end of the month, the price is reduced for both the stamp/die combo set or the stamp set alone.  The Eat Love Play papers can be purchased with or without the sticker sheet.  Click on the items to find the details on my website.

I have created a video showing the basics for the mini-bendi card, along with all the specifics of creating this Kitchen Gnome version.  So check it out on my YouTube channel!

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you get creative with a mini-bendi card of your own.
